Grab the Room

The dictionary defines Affect as…verb, uh-fekt to have influence on or cause a change in someone. Touch the feelings of; move emotionally. The music affected her deeply.

Everyone has an idea waiting to be shared, but often it’s hard to find the words or the courage to share it.  To get in the game, you need to master words about who you are, what you do, and why you do it.  This is your   opportunity. What you say and how you say it screams success.  Do others hear you?  Do they give a damn?  ForAffect has the ingredients for even the most experienced leaders to hone their message.

Engage, Inspire, Transform; three words that are our foundation. Walk in your listeners shoes, cut to the bone, cause a chill. At the heart of messaging is the story you tell and the connection you make.

Your message must land in the listener’s lap. The right words, the right story make the difference between a great talk and just a talk. Humor, irony, metaphor, vulnerability, animation and courage are the building blocks. The DNA of messaging is our secret sauce.

We break the rules. We make every word count.  Stories can be soft on facts, but clear on point.  Stand away from that podium, grab the room, use silence, don’t rush. Be REAL. Keep it short and don’t say everything. Say only enough to raise consciousness, inspire curiosity, and provoke questions.

Everyone has lessons to learn about messaging.  That high school valedictorian has a message of hope for the future and must say it clearly with passion.

That President, CEO, Board Chair, Supervisor, or Political Representative conveys their values through words and actions, ForAffect ties who you are with what you say. Without that connection your power is lost.

Think about your last big purchase. You probably bought it with your gut not your head.  Logic, data, and facts have their place, yet in the end we have to grab others’ emotions if they’re to be convinced.

Heart, Soul, Values, Truth, Boldness, Empathy, Connection.  When the audience identifies with you the message can be pure magic

YOUR WORDS ARE YOUR POWER
